Seriously

Got a distinct feeling of Spain again today.

You see folks, I was supposed to have one of my exams today, arranged it with the teacher a good few weeks ago. So I go to uni, after some panicky, hasty study, and armed with my dictionary and my trusty pencil-case.

"So when is it that you have your exam?"
- Err, today...?
"Today? Really? Well, no no, that's not really good. How's Tuesday for you?"
-Tuesday. Ok, fine, Tuesday

Seriously!

*sigh*

By the way, I've been watching way too much of Grey's Anatomy lately, but it's just too damn addictive.

Only a week to go, and then I'll be back in Finland again. Mixed feelings about this. Now don't get me wrong, I'm insanely happy to go home and to see everyone again, with a special mention to RMATS, and all that. Hoorays all around for that.
But for the last four months I've been living in this house of sticky floors and loud dutch people, and grown quite fond of the international feel of the place. And I know that even if I stayed here for longer there wouldn't really be that much time before everyone else who I know in this house would be gone too. By mid-June most of the folks here will have gone back to their homecountries. So it's good that I go now, I get to say my ttfn's to all =).

But now, I'm a-going to make tea to soothe me over the very Spanish incident of my morning I mentioned above.

Seriously, yarr.

Two weeks and a day...

... till I head back to the land of Finns, and say toodles to my Barcelonian experience of lazy 'studying', and a distinctly Spanish way of organising things.
I'm not even going to start on my internet connection again. Which still isn't working, though it was supposed to be back on yesterday, but I'm not getting into the rant of having to haul my computer up to the third floor where I can get the neighbours' wireless loud, clear and faltering. But as I said, not bothering to whinge about my lack of connection anymore.

The weekend with my brother went sooo quickly, and we had a lot of fun, though we never did get to the beach. But I think he had fun, and we got a disposable camera which is full of cheesy touristshots. Here's hoping they turn out good =)

Can't believe how quickly the last few months have gone - I mean, I just got here! I've met a whole pile of wonderful people, I can almost follow a dutch conversation now, and I've thoroughly studied the joys of cheap - yet effective - sangria. Schoolwork? Pfft. A tan? Hah! Still the pale-verging-on-see-through I've always been =). I don't have the patience to work on a tan. Screw that, I'll keep my pasty complexion.

And now that school's almost out -only I'm really not finding a lot of motivation for the last couple of weeks school-wise. I mean I could spend my days just reading books and doodling and providing the weather's nicer than the cold and cloudy it's now, perhaps even exposing myself to the beach.

More rambling later, till later y'arr!

Long time, no post

Less than a week in reality, but I'm sure it felt like a whole lot longer for all of my fans out there.

Aanywho..

My little brother is here at the moment, so hooray for that! He got here yesterday afternoon, and the evening was spent with a fair amount of sangria consumption with the pile of international folk we have in this house.

Twas a fun night.

Today we've been good little tourists and gone to see a couple of token sights, as well as roaming around the city for some shopping.

As for tonight, there's another houseparty in planning, so a trip down to the shops might be in order yet. Tomorrow, weather permitting , shall be a beach day.

Tis all for now, up up and yarr!

Still no net...

So I'm still on the neighbours' wireless. Which is quite efficient, though doesn't work in my room, so I've got to haul myself and my trusty rental laptop all the way to the kitchen on the third floor. Currently this table holds three other computers as well. Net-addicted people, all of us.

One of the problems of having the only net point of the house in a kitchen is that people cook here, and they cook stuff that smells reeeeally nice, and I just ate, dammit!

Onto other things, like what I've done this weekend. Firstly I've walked so much I have blisters in my feet. Though that is mainly due to the fact that I wore flip-flops for all that walking. But it could be worse. So where was it that I walked to, I hear you ask. Well, there was a big RedBull Air Race here yesterday, and it seems that all of Barcelona decided to attend. Seriously, I've never seen such a crowd, or been so unbelieveably immobile and stuck with sweaty people all around me and yeh. Ew.

The beach looked like it had more people than sand on it.
Our crew first tried to make our way to the beach as well, but soon gave the excercise up as futile. We retreated to a beach further down with no view of the action, but no people either.

And that's about all of the action I've been up to since my last post.

So that's all for now folks, y'arr be good now.

Nobody expects Spanish efficiency

The ones who've read this blog before might have noticed the slight dislike I have for the internet connection of my house.

I'm glad to say that I no longer have that problem.

Because how can you dislike what you don't have?

Yep. A couple of days ago our connection cut out, and this time we got our hands on the contract and network support number only after a day without a connection. Roped someone with adequate Spanish skills to call them up, and after being passed around from department to another for about fifteen minutes we found out that the contract for our connection has been cancelled.

What the..??!

Soo, we got in touch with the landlady, who called the person who's name the connection is under, and as a reply she goot "Oops" basically. He was supposed to cancel another connection, and not ours.

Oops.

Right.

So now we're hoping that maybe it'll work again tomorrow...

'But where is she posting from now?' I hear you all think. Well with the bliss of a tightly built suburb and unsecured wireless connections a-plenty, I'm riding on my neighbours connection, alongside half the people of my house mind you..

Anywho, that's all for now, here's hoping that the connection will be back up tomorrow...
Yarr.

So I'm back, from outer space..

Greetings from my roadtrip that is =).

We went to Aragon, more specifically to near Barbastro and Torreciudad, stayed in a nice hostel-type place, from where we headed to various excursions the area had to offer.

Saw the medieval village of Aínsa, the Torreciudad cathedral a couple of times (Catholic folk travelling with me, more about that a bit later...), and the really nice national park and canyon of Añisclo. Took a lot of photos, most of which I deleted, because I really couldn't tell the difference between all the scenic shots I'd at the time thought to be oh so good.

Oh and quick note about the camera, as I mentioned in my previous post, I don't have mine with me. Thus I borrowed DF's digital camera, though she warned me that at a previous party someone had sat on it or something, and it still takes pictures, though they all turn out blurry, so not sure how well the photos will turn out. Thought I'd take it in any case, it's atleast something.

Once I looked at the camera closer I figured that hell, I can fix it. I mean, I'm no technical whiz as such, but I'm not completely helpless when it comes to some technology.

I set upon my task, and only in a matter of moments I could take clear and sharp photos again.

There was a fingerprint on the lens.

***

So, the Catholic companions I mentioned earlier. Nice, wonderful girls. Very sweet, and even though I only knew one even somehow, and the rest completely new acquaintances, twas not a problem having me on board. The weekend was spent conversing in equally broken spanish and english, and worked quite well.

Now I've had something of a rant on religion before, but I really don't have anything against individuals, as long as they don't try to convert me. Well, by the end of the weekend I got asked in amazement that don't I really ever get the need to pray, and maybe I just don't know yet, and howbout I take these instructions on how to pray properly to the holy virgin.

Right.

And then the incident of which I already ranted in Sponge Girl's comments - the movie-censorship. We were watching The Island, and as the movie came to the point where all Hollywood movies eventually come to - the love scene, one of the girls got up, and blocked the projector till all that heavy breathing passed.

Ya say whaaat?

I was quite baffled.

I mean, OK, the characters had not gotten married or anything, so twas premarital. But honestly, what would you see in such a scene? Two heads bobbing close to each other, dim lighting, panting, bare arms.

They block this, but happily watch people shooting each other, or blowing up cars and such. Killing is fine to see, but not a bit of movie love.

Anywho, this is turning out to be a reeeeally long post, so I'll spare you more rambling. Till later folks.

Yarr!
