One small step...

Well ok, actually a few-hour car drive, but still.

Yessirree, going on a small roadtrip this weekend .
As it's MayDay on Monday 'tis a public holiday, and I got asked to join a bunch of gals heading to Aragon for a few days. Apparently one of the gals (or her parental units) has a currently unoccupied house up there, which we'll invade.

Now the plan is apparently to do study a-plenty, as people have exams coming up. Me being the exchange student and not really expected to study anything here (hooray!) am packing my Douglas Adams with me instead of study-related stuff.

But it'll be nice to see a bit more of Spain. And all the people going there, bar myself, are Spanish/Catalan speaking ones. So who knows, I might even improve my language skills a bit. Or just talk really slowly in English and wave my hands a lot.

The trickiest part will be being sans internet connection, but maybe that'll just be good for me...

Oh and onto somehting completely different for a moment, in two weeks my little brother will be here for the weekend! Hooray! I already warned him not to pack too much stuff, as I'll be forced to send part of my accumulated pile of crap with him back to Finland, as there's no way I could fit it all in my suitcase. And should probably ask that he brings my camera with him aswell... Yep, I bring two pairs of bikinis (haven't been swimming once), and didn't bring a camera.
Ah well.

That's all for now, gotta head off in half an hour, so till later y'arr!

Back to normal..

Connection-wise that is. It keeps cutting out every now and then, though now it luckily reconnects quite quickly.

Which is good.

Though still damn irritating.

So let's see, what's happened since my last post..?
Found out I've got me a sumemerjob in July, so a big HOORAY to that =). Because a) money is good, and 2) boredom sucks ass. Did that last summer, and got bored up to the point of voluntarily doing schoolwork. Crazy things..

The week has been very literacy-related. Bunch of bookhappenings at our university, and on Friday us exchange students all got to read some poetry or the like in our native languages. I chose the easy option of just reading a bit of Kalevala, which can conveniently be found online. Hooray again!

Today is the day of Books&Roses, the point of which is that lovers would give each other these items as gifts (naturally meaning that men get books and fragile females receive uprooted flora). But anywho, the biggest street in town was filled with rose and book stalls and an endless stream of tourists and locals, browsing through books and looking at pretty roses. Found me a couple of books as well (I'm quite a sucker for books. I think I brought more books than t-shirts with me here...)
Found the Spanish version of Sinuhe the Egyptian, which I've never even read in Finnish, but naturally had to get it once it caught my eye. Plus it only cost a euro..

Back to school again tomorrow, and I've got a bunch of homework I haven't even considered doing yet. I keep telling myself that I'll just get up early tomorrow and do it then. To which I already know that, yeah right - as if. But still, I'm planning on keeping up with this charade of pretending to lie to myself.

Now dear readers I'm going to see what plans dinner has for me (I figure that if I have an actual recipe, then I have plans for dinner. When not, then it's vice versa. It's up to the ingredients what they choose to turn into), so till later.

Yarr.

edit

dude this is the third time I'm trying to post this goddamn thing. Work already!

Happy Easterbunnyday =)

Hello hello everyone.

Well my week of laziness is soon coming to an end, only tomorrow left for sweet sweet nothing. Then again I've been succesfully accomplishing nothing since friday last week, so perhaps it's time to pretend to study again =).

Things with me and DF are seriously looking up, which deserves a huge HOORAY! Saw her earlier this week (Wednesday maybe, dunno for sure. One of them anyway) as I joined her and her housemates for a lazy day at the beach, and then today as she came over for the Easter brunch at my house (ate a lot. It was about 6 hours ago, and I'm still full. But boi was it good.), and tomorrow a bunch of us are going to a couple of clubs.

But anyway, after the brunch she sent me a message asking if it would be ok by me if we didn't continue with the separate lives anymore and so on. To which I replied with something along the lines of "Yes yes yes, hooray hooray!"

So WooHoo! =D

That's all for now, so till later y'arr.

edit

Forgot to relate my tale of attending an Easter procession when I first posted, so thought I'd just add it in here.

So as you may have gathered, Easter is a big thing for them catholic folk - what with a whole week off school and all. On Friday we went into town to see a real, authentic, Spanish Easter procession, which would start from one of the churches from quite the centre of town.

Mind you Barcelona doesn't do it as big and all out as some other towns, but still.

So we get there, me, Austrian girl and Belgian boy, and quickly notice that we're not the only ones there.

Huge crowds, everyone pushing and shoving to get themselves close to that church entrance, to see all them priests and altar boys streaming out, looking all grave and solemn and whatnot.

Now I have a bit of a thing against religion. I'm not saying it's bad to have faith, and by all means, the one of you who do believe, and find peace, serenity and all sortsa good stuff from it, good for you. But as an institution, and masses of religious folk with that holier-than-thou attitude - sheesh. Not my crowd, I tells ya.

So much for good samaritans when someone's trying to pass - no, no, no! The thing to do is to not move your feet an inch, yell at the person trying to get forward and push forward so you can get the good glimpse of that priest, at whom you gaze upon with such a lamb-like stare whilst crossing your hands. God-fearing folk my ass - all of 'em just hell bent on the notion that their club is right and thus are allowed act however the hell they please towards them pagans.

Anyway, there was a float aswell, quite a big one. It had Mary supporting a dead Jesus on her lap, lots of flowers, and a huge crown on Mary's head. They'd built it inside the church, and somehow neglected to make sure they could fit the contraption through the doors onto the street. Eventually they had to get the crown off, get the float outside, and then re-attach it.

So there was a priest half in Mary's lap, leaning on Jesus, screwing the crown on Mary's head. The crowds seriously cheer joyfully as the priest twists and screws the crown tightly on her head.

And I think that I was the only one who saw that as somewhat in the area of what not to do to religious symbols - publicly attach headwear with hardware, but hey, what do I know I suppose. You nail one's hands, spose you may aswell screw the other one's head.

Anywho, after all that the float finally began to inch along, only to stop under a balcony from which two women 'sang'. Banshees in heat, to my opinion, but then again, what do I know of these religious thingamies.

After that the three of us decided that we'd seen about enough, and the gang of hypoc... religious folk could manage well without us in their midst. We went and ate kebabs and life was good again.

I can live with this

So this week is shaping out to be one of a hefty amount of relaxation and all sortsa non-stressfull stuff.

A couple of days ago went to a sushi bar with a couple of girls from the house, and boi was it good. Cost a lot, but twas worth it. Then yesterday went to see Good Night, and Good Luck which I quite liked. From there we headed to a Lebanese restaurant, and treated ourselves yet again to good food.

And then I stayed up till 3am watching the Breakfast Club. It's still a damn cool movie.

All in all, I haven't been doing anything constructive, and quite enjoying it. Ah, and I'm also attempting a tan! Though so far it's been more of a burn, but still, I'll get there (or skin cancer) eventually. I might've said this before, but as I've got nothing else to do, I might as well repeat myself a couple of times.

Onto other things
This house has a quaint little garden which is all nice and unkempt and it's nice to sit there and drink your tea. The garden also has 3 cats, which live somewhere between this house and the couple of neighbours - they don't belong to anyone, but aren't stray's as such.
One of them is quite friendly and gladly comes to get her little head scratched and takes part in the conversations.
Anyway, the point of this little description was that a few days ago we noted that this little kitty is a bit round in the not-fat kinda way, and it is spring and all... So there might be kittens soon, which will mean absolutely no studies, because c'mon - kittens!

So we'll see how that goes.

Anywho, that's all for now, might go sit outside in the sun some more =).
Yarr!

I'm a-reget this post later...

Yep, estoy borracho, meaning I'm a teensy bit on the incoherent side. purely because a friend of mine. My plan was to watch a movie or two, but so it happened that I opted instead to go out with a friend of mine for a drink or two. Or a pitcher. Yanno, same dif as they say.
So really, not my fault at all, that words might fail me at this moment, or that it might take me a while to spell words properly.
...

Ok, fine, the sangria wasn't forced down my throat as such. Or at all.

But back to the title, if I delete this later (in more sober hours that is), you my dear reader are entitled to demand it back.

I'm gonna go catch some sleep now...

Edit: Am in the sober hours now and spose I might as well leave this up. Nothing too incriminating I think. And quite well typed for 4am and excessive sangria intake I'd say..

It's alive, ALIVE!!

Well connected anyway. Hooray for the internet and helpdesk people! And more to the point people who have the necessary language skills to talk to the helpdesk people!

So hoorays all around.

That's all for now, as I've got to go do some foodshopping, currently I am in possession of an onion and some beans. That's all folks, yarr!

Dear Comtrend, you suck.

Yep, the company responsible for my huge gaping lack of an internet connection these past few days. Not impressed, people, not impressed at all.

Got me an online exam next monday, which will be interesting if they don't really fix this goddamn connection for good. Right now it's working, yes, but I'm really not inclined to trust it. Believe me, it'll cut out aaany minute now.

Bastards.

Other than and including that, life is pretty much normal here. Next week is holidays, hooray for religious countries and a week of Easter holidays! My plan is to finally do something about this pale-verging-on-see-through skin of mine, ie tempt some skin cancer my way. Because if Paris Hilton taught me something, spray tans are NOT the way to go. So far I've found myself able to resist the temptation to transform into some hue of orange.

Lessee, what else?

Missing RMATS insanely. Too damn far away. Sigh.
Couple of months to go...

That's all for now, no more pointless rambling for you =)
Ttfn, yarr.

The answer to life, the universe and everything.

Yep, this post should reveal all that going by the number of it, but it probably won't. Sorry. No enlightenment here unfortunately.

So I've well and truly ditched my bi-weekly posting pattern, as I figured I would, as soon as I said it out loud. Jinxity jinx.

Today has been something of a quiet day for a change, as yesterday we had a houseparty with the beer and the wine and the sangria, and more beer and more wine and you get the idea. After managing to get up around 2pm I engaged in vigorous rehydrative activities.

What else, what else..?

Ah, bought me some shoes today, and they're quite funky indeed. Perhaps the heels are a bit higher than what I initially planned, but eh. Most likely I won't get vertigo.

That's all the uneventfullness you'll get for now, as I see a chocolate bar staring at me, demanding for my full and undivided attention. And who am I to argue that?

Yarr.
